GULF COAST, Fla. — A mako shark caught by a man named Joey Polk measured in at 11-feet and in the neighborhood of 800 pounds. TV station WFTV reports that┬áPolk and his cousins reeled in the massive catch off the Gulf Coast.

The lifelong fisherman said he never anticipated such a catch, but didn’t let any go to waste, sharing pounds of the shark meat with other people in his community. He said the exact location of the catch is a closely guarded secret.

“These are spots that have been handed down from our grandfathers to our dads to us. We like to keep it a secret. Maybe one day I can pass it down to my kids,” Polk said to WFTV.
