PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Newlywed Bob Adams told TV station KDKA he thought he was feeling funny on his wedding day because he never wears suit and tie. Adams was on his way to marry a woman he had known for 36 years, but realized he was having a heart attack, which redirected him to a hospital.
With his bride Mary Pizzuto nervously riding in the front of the ambulance, the 68-year-old Adams was taken to the emergency room where they decided the heart attack wasn’t going to get in the way. The two were wed in the emergency room according to KDKA.
“The preacher come in and the thing I said was, ‘We’re not doing the last rites, we’re doing a marriage! And everybody bust out laughing,” Adams told KDKA.
Adams underwent a successful angioplasty and the couple still plans to take their honeymoon to Las Vegas. While there was a dormant period in the years they had known one another, they reconnected when Adams saw Pizzuto’s picture on Facebook.
“My great-niece is the one who put my picture on Facebook, and that’s how he found me,” Pizzuto told KDKA.
