KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police arrested a naked man covered in blood at the scene of a car crash, and according to police, the man is a 'subject of interest' in a woman's homicide. Police said the unidentified woman was found dead inside a Northland apartment complex Wednesday morning.
Police responded to the apartment in the 7900 block of North Hickory Street at about 6:50 a.m. after neighbors reported a man was running around naked and bloody, banging on doors.
“When police started arriving is when he ran out of the apartment. From what we understand, he was completely naked and covered in the victim’s blood," said a neighbor named Audra, who asked FOX 4 not to use her last name.
About 10 miles away police responded to a car crash near I-435 and Highway 152. Police ran the man's license plate and connected him to the apartment complex where the woman was found dead. They took the man into custody, calling him a "subject of interest' in the woman's death.
"There is another crime scene. There was also an accident involving a subject of interest in this matter," Sgt. Kari Thompson, public information officer, said.
Police said three different crimes scenes are being investigated: the apartment where the woman was found, the parking lot where the man was reportedly seen running around naked and the crash site where police made an arrest.
“I was in bed this morning and I woke up and I heard yelling outside and I woke up and I looked out the blinds and I seen a naked man running over behind the fence by the Ethan's," said another witness, Cheyenne Dail.
Two different police agencies are investigating this case.
"This is an ongoing, ever-changing investigation and it will take some time for us to figure out all the facets of this investigation," Thompson said.
Police have not released the identity of the victim nor the suspect as of Wednesday afternoon.
