KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Touted as the world’s tallest water slide as certified by Guinness World Records, Schlitterbahn announced on Wednesday afternoon that the 17-story Verrückt will not be open until June 5 at the earliest.

Layne Pitcher, marketing director at Schlitterbahn, says that workers still have more adjustments to make to the water slide and must test it again before it opens to the public.

When the public does it get their first opportunities at the thrill ride, four people at a time will plummet down a 168 foot and 7 inch drop in a raft before going up and down a five-story hill. The raft is expected to reach a top speed of 65 miles per hour. Schlitterbahn is scheduled to open on May 23.
