31-year-old high school sophomore arrested for fake identification
Charity Anne Johnson 31, was using the name “Charity Stevens” and was enrolled at New Live Christian School in Longview, Texas.
According to KLTV.com, a school spokesman said in October 2013 Johnson enrolled in school and was accompanied by a guardian. She said she was 15.
A woman named Tamica Lincoln said she invited Johnson into her home in March after she said she needed a place to stay.
“I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes,” Lincoln said in an interview with KLTV.
Lincoln said Johnson claimed to have been abused by her father and that her mother was dead.
On Tuesday, the school learned Johnson’s true identity.
“Teachers were crying and students were crying, and her best friend just couldn’t believe it,” Lincoln said.
The motive remains unclear. School officials posted a picture of Johnson to their Facebook page asking if anyone knew her. People in Florida, Minnesota and Texas responded, saying they don’t want to have any contact with her.
Johnson remains in the Gregg County Jail on $500 bond.
