Fearful of humans, stray dog with pipe stuck on head, flees help
WESTMINSTER, S.C. — To the relief of a South Carolina community, a stray dog with zero-trust in human beings somehow managed to free himself from a pipe he had stuck on his head.
For about a week, volunteers had been scouring about 500-acres of forest land that belongs to the federal government, hoping to find the dog they’ve named ‘Piper.’
In a picture snapped by the Upstate Animal Rescue Foundation, Piper was seen with a section of metal ductwork stuck on his head.
Each time volunteers tried to help him, Piper bolted away.
A nearby yard party with gunfire didn’t help to calm him.
“This is a traumatized animal who is leery of humans, and it takes time to earn enough trust to get close to him,” Kelly Blair with the Upstate Animal Rescue Foundation of South Carolina, told FOX Carolina.
Rescuers hoped to shoot him with a tranquilizer gun, but could never get close enough.
On Monday, Oconee County Animal Control posted a picture of a dog they said is Piper. It is not known how the pipe was removed from his head. Click here for more pictures from FOX Carolina.
