SHAWNEE, Kan. -- People who are mentally disabled are among society's most vulnerable persons. Often unable to help themselves, they rely on others to fight for them.
Such was the case for a Johnson County woman who had a stroke and then needed help paying her bills. Lynda Pflumm put her trust and her bank account in the hands of Overland Park company ARCare, but that's when her problem started. FOX 4 Problem Solver Linda Wagar has the full report in the video above.

I know several people who have them as their payee. And I’ve been dealing with this same issue for three years now.

They need to be looked at further

I used to have ArCare as my payee up until about four years ago when it was decided I could manage my own money just fine and save money in the process. I had some of these late payment problems occasionally but not nearly as bad as this woman. My payee was Sue and she was really nice but she left and moved to Wisconsin maybe two or three years ago.

First problem: Sanctioned by Social Security.

Contact the KS Attorney General about the complaints. Maybe that will be enough pressure to straighten them out

When people allow other people to control their money, the controller often times finds ways to steal it. We need a bonded company to assist people with mental disabilities so if the money is stolen, the disabled person is protected.
Ben
Is this company insured or bonded? If not, don’t use them or trust them with your money.
Stacy
Social Security requires companies to be bonded and there are no allegations in this report of stealing.
Christy
No allegations of stealing, but their job is to PAY bills ON TIME for their customers…. they have dropped the ball in too many instances.

Late payment charges have been listed in my utility expenses which is the norm until people in these businesses that we supposed to trust; start abusing their position & create a financial hardship for us. I may have to seek financial assistance

My Brother has had trouble with this company for a year. They never return calls refusing to let him know if his bills are being paid. And they were NOT !! The lady said this isn’t news. Yes it is. They are being paid for a service and are performing badly. Yet Social Security continues to use them and refuses to listen to complaints about them telling the clients ” You need to contact Arcare” Something needs to be done.
