BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- A bride and groom from Blue Springs say their perfect day has been ruined. The pair claims a travel agent took their money and gave them confirmation numbers, but as it turns out the reservations were never booked.

The bride and groom say nearly 50 people were supposed to leave from KCI en route to Tulum, Mexico for Jana Kaiser and Garrett Siemer's wedding this Friday. Instead, when people in the group started checking confirmation numbers last weekend, both the airline, and their resort told them those numbers didn't exist.

Heather Waters is having a tough time knowing she won't be there to watch her baby brother say his vows.

“It's his big day and I want to be there,” Waters said.

She said Blue Springs travel agent Lisa Philpott of 3 Suns Cruise and Tours took money from the nearly 50-member wedding group starting last August, but claims she failed to book flights or resort reservations for many of them.

“We were trying to get on and check our dates. None of our confirmations are on there. Tulum had never heard of the Siemer party, anyone booked there for Siemer or Kaiser.”

Jana Kaiser and Garrett Siemer realized Saturday something was wrong.

“Even if she was to magically bring all of our money back at this point, she still has taken our experience,” Kaiser said via Skype interview from Mexico.

The pair said the group planned and paid for 46 spots, but learned only 10 had actually been booked.

“We've been up since Saturday, stressing and trying to make everybody`s arrangements, move money around, trying to do everything we can,” Kaiser said.

The couple tells FOX 4 they met with Philpott at her home with Blue Springs police Sunday to sort the issue out, though the pair hasn’t filed a police report yet.

“They told us we couldn't file the report until Thursday, because she told police she was trying to get loans to make this happen,” Kaiser said.

The pair says they've gotten no help as many guests scrambled to get to Tulum at the last-minute.

“She went through a lot of trouble just to lie to us about going. The struggle of everyone trying to get there with them on their wedding day, you know the one day every girl dreams of,” Waters said.

FOX 4 went to Philpott's house to see if she'd talk with us. There was a car in the driveway, but no one answered the door. We also left two voice mails and a text message for two phone numbers listed for Philpott.

Kaiser said in the Skype interview, with a smile on her face: “Tomorrow we're getting married no matter what. She took our money but she`s not taking our wedding.”

The couple says the group spent about $40,000 on this trip collectively. FOX 4 searched the Better Business Bureau website and couldn't find any information about 3 Suns Cruise and Tours travel agency or Lisa Philpott.

Blue Springs police confirm the department is aware of the situation. The couple plans to file a police report when everyone returns from the trip.
