LIBERTY, Mo. — An electrical problem likely caused the fire that destroyed the Crowley Furniture store in Liberty, Mo., on Sunday May 25, according to the Liberty Fire Dept.

Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental, likely from an electrical source.

The Liberty Fire Department received a 911 call at 9:08 a.m. on May 25 regarding a fire at Crowley Furniture Store located at the intersection of highways 291 and 152.  The Kansas City Fire Department was called in to assist and provide additional crews to allow for the rotation of firefighters.

The fire was brought under control by 10:30 a.m. and was contained to Crowley Furniture. There were no injuries or heat related issues.

Most of the store was damaged by smoke and water, but Greg Crowley, the owner, said he’s making sure all his customers are taken care of by redirecting them to the two other Crowley furniture stores in Overland Park and Lee’s Summit.
