KANSAS CITY, Mo. —  Kansas City is warning residents to not put their garbage in red bags on the curb, and if they do, sanitation crews cannot collect it.

Someone has been selling red bags door-to-door, but crews cannot collect red bags left on the curb because red is the color of bags used to dispose of hazardous biological waste.

“Very specific disposal methods have to be used for biological waste, and private services contract with individuals for biological waste disposal,” said waste services manager Michael Shaw. “We can’t just throw it in the landfill.”
