BRADENTON, Fla. — A man in Florida who grew tired of code enforcement officers ticketing him for cosmetic infractions related to his house decided to paint his house red, white, and blue; a symbol of freedom with the American flag.

In front of the house is a sign, thanking neighbors for their support.

Brent Greer says it all started when he got a knock at the door from a code enforcement officer telling him to remove an old Christmas tree from the front balcony of his home.  From there, he says he got a list of cosmetic items that had to done to his home in order to avoid a $250 fine per day until the issues were fixed.

The Greer family includes nine children; seven of which are adopted. They face a hearing with the code enforcement board on June 17.
