KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Fire destroyed a  popular Northland restaurant, L.C.'s Hamburgers late Thursday night.

The fire was first reported by a sheriff's deputy at about 10 p.m. Thursday, when he saw flames coming from the roof as he was driving by.

L.C.'s has been a part of the community near I-29 and Prairie View Rd. for more than 40 years, established in 1973.

The owner of the restaurant had not seen the damage by the time our reports began on the FOX 4 Morning News, but said he hoped to rebuild and return the tradition.

FOX 4's Rob Collins was on the scene and reported the back and side of the restaurant suffered the most damage. Inside the restaurant, the damage is mostly water damage.
