One suffers critical injuries in Olathe house fire

OLATHE, Kan. -- One person suffered critical injuries in a house fire early Thursday morning in Olathe, Kan. The fire started at a duplex in the 4400 block of S. Parkway Drive.

According to authorities, they received a call from a relative about a man who was possibly suicidal. When firefighters and police arrived they noticed smoke coming from inside the home. Firefighters worked to put out the fire, located in the kitchen. Officers saw a man on the floor inside and crews rescued him. He suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to an area hospital.

Investigators are trying to determine if the fire was intentionally set or an accident. If intentional, authorities said the man could face charges for endangering the lives of the people who lived on the other side of the duplex.
