Shooting outside KCMO liquor store leaves one dead

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One person is dead after a shooting took place at a Kansas City liquor store over the weekend.

Police say that occupants of two cars were shooting at each other on Grand. The scene began at 9th and Grand and proceeded to 6th and Grand to the Grand Slam Liquor.  Two men were shot inside the car in the parking lot of the store.

An off-duty police officer witnessed the shooting and returned fire at a vehicle as it left the scene.  One victim tried to get away, but was stopped at 8th and Grand, where he was transported to an area hospital.  The other victim was transported from the parking lot of store.

Immediately following the incident, police said both victims were in serious condition, but later confirmed one of the men had died.

Police are looking for a white Ford Edge which fled the scene. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous.
