LAWRENCE, Kan. — Lawrence police were involved in an overnight shooting this weekend.

Police say a man with a gun confronted an officer at the scene of a disturbance call at Kasold Drive and Harvard Road, a little after midnight on Sunday.

Police say the encounter led to the officer shooting the man. That man was taken to the hospital.

The officer and a second officer that arrived on scene are on leave, which police say is standard during an investigation.
