Walk for Literacy and ALS traffic alerts

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two charity walks will close and limit traffic on Friday and Saturday and pedestrians and motorists should be aware and plan accordingly.

The Mount Pleasant Freedom School Walk-A-Thon/Walk for Literacy takes place Friday, June 27 from about 9-10:30 a.m. and will temporarily close the following streets:

– East 22nd Street, between Olive Street and Prospect Avenue

– Brooklyn Avenue, between East 22nd Street and East 31st Street

– East 31st Street, between Brooklyn Avenue and Prospect Avenue

– Prospect Avenue, between East 31st Street and East 22nd Street

The Putting the Boots to ALS 5K Run/Walk takes place Saturday, June 28 from about 8-10:30 a.m. and will temporarily close the following street:

– Ward Parkway, between West 81st Street and Summit Street

The city advices everyone to obey detours, barricades and no parking signs. For more information, click here.
