ELMHURST,  N.Y. — A 22-year-old mother is in police custody and charged with second-degree murder after police say she killed her 11-month-old son because she didn’t want him anymore.

According to detectives, Nicole “Nikki” Kelly told them she had “reached her breaking point” with Kiam Felix, Jr.

Kelly and the boy’s father, who does not live with them, took Kiam to the hospital on Sunday.  Police reported to prosecutors that Kelly, formerly a home health aide, wrapped Kiam so tightly in a bed sheet that he couldn’t breathe or move.

She allegedly left him alone like that for half an hour while she took a shower.  Prosecutors allege that after he turned blue, she called the boy’s father.

After she was taken into custody, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, she told investigators, “I reached my breaking point, I didn’t want him anymore.”
