OLATHE, Kan. -- A 25-year-old woman and Olathe Police hope the public can help identify the man who sexually assaulted and battered the woman early Thursday morning at her apartment.

Police say they received the call to her apartment on North Lennox Street at about 12:50 a.m. The woman says the man was a black male, stocky build, wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and "Timberland" style work boots, along with a white baseball cap. She estimated his age at 20-30 years old.

FOX 4's Megan Brilley spoke with a neighbor who said the crime has left her on edge.

"Scared. Very scared. It's too close to home; probably have a few sleepless nights," the neighbor said. "I'm probably going to buy some mace and put an extra lock on my sliding glass door

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries, police say. Crime scene investigators were at the scene Thursday collecting fingerprints and looking for more clues to help lead to an arrest.

Anyone with information should call Olathe police at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
