12-year-old runs over teen then crashes truck into Olathe home

OLATHE, Kan. -- Police are investigating after a 12-year-old boy ran over a teen with a pick-up truck then crashed into an Olathe home.

Olathe police confirmed around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday two boys were outside a home in the 900 block of S. Troost St. Police said the parents were home when a 12-year-old boy was outside with his 16-year-old brother. He got into the driver seat of an idling pickup truck, which was sitting in the driveway. The boy popped the vehicle into gear then accidentally ran over the 16-year-old boy, who was standing in front of it. The truck continued on and crashed into the home, creating a large hole.

The 16-year-old was transported to an area hospital. Police said he was alert, conscious and is currently in stable condition.

Police are investigating this case as an accident. No charges have been filed.
