Whole Wheat Banana Bread

Serves 12


  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup canola oil
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ½ cups mashed banana
  • 1/3 cup lowfat buttermilk


  1. Combine first four ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
  2. In another bowl, combine oil, egg,  sugar, bananas, and buttermilk.
  3. Add dry ingredients and mix just until ingredients are combined.
  4. Pour batter into a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
  5. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes.
  6. Cool 10 minutes before removing cake from pan.
