One person dies when driver heads wrong way across Heart of America bridge

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The passenger of a car heading the wrong way on the Heart of America Bridge at about 3:30 Sunday morning was killed when the driver crashed into an oncoming car.

Kansas City Police said the driver of a Chevrolet Impala took the car into the southbound lanes of traffic, but was heading north.

The Impala hit a Ford Expedition, killing the Impala’s front-seat passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Impala’s driver has serious injuries, and the driver of the Expedition was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police say they are investigating that the driver of the Impala was impaired at the time of the fatal crash.

    The victim’s name is Azeneth Rodriguez. The driver, her then boyfriend Raymundo Rodriguez is being charged this week. Azeneth and family members tried to stop Raymundo from leaving the Power&Light district he refused and became violent. He attacked one of her family members who was a women. Azeneth had jumped in the car to stop him from driving and hurting himself or anyone else.
