LENEXA, Kan. — Police say a juvenile female struck by a train Sunday night was a student at Olathe Northwest.

The girl was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition, but has since died from her injuries,.

Lenexa police say the female was standing on the tracks Sunday night when the BNSF Railway train hit her. The train’s engineer called 911 to report the accident.

Fire crews had to use all-terrain vehicles to access the area to find her Her identity hasn’t been released.

Railway and local authorities are investigating.
