OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A man and a woman are in custody following a police pursuit that started in Independence, Mo., and ended in Overland Park, Kan.

Authorities said they responded to a report of a car jacking in the 1400 block of Independence. Police spotted the white Chevy z71 pickup and pursued it across the state line where it then crashed into a duplex in Overland Park, Kan. The truck ran through the yard, smashed into a car parked in the driveway and then careened into the duplex causing massive damage.  Two people were inside the duplex sleeping in the back bedroom and were not injured.

"I think it's one of those delayed drama type of things," Jim Gum, duplex owner, said. The two people sleeping inside the duplex are his son and daughter-in-law. "Pretty catastrophic events. They're okay. They're safe, warm and they have plenty of food, and everyone is insured. Everything is good."

Police said they recovered a gun the suspects reportedly threw out of the truck during the chase. Police said the suspects were traveling over 100 miles an hour at one point.
