Police identify man shot, killed day before Thanksgiving

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police have identified a man shot and killed the day before Thanksgiving as 37-year-old Bryant Lightsey.

Just before 5 a.m. on Nov. 26, police said someone broke into Lightsey's home in the 5600 block of College Ave., in Kansas City, Mo. Lightsey was shot and killed.

FOX 4's Matt Stewart spoke with the victim's brother at the scene and learned Lightsey lived in the home with his mother.  The mother reportedly heard someone yell 'raid' during the break-in before the shooting.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark hoodie and dark jeans.

“Homicides are sad anytime of the year, and we definitely want this to stop, so we encourage your viewers, anyone who has information on this tragic information to please share it with us quickly,” said Sgt. Kari Thompson.
