FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — So much for all the debate about Baylor’s head-to-head victory over TCU. The College Football Playoff Committee left both Big 12 co-champions out of the top four.

After weeks of talk about whether the Bears or Horned Frogs deserved to be in the playoff, Baylor was fifth and TCU was sixth in the final ranking Sunday. The Frogs had been ahead of Baylor in the first six weekly rankings, which began 2 1/2 weeks after TCU’s 61-58 loss at Waco on Oct. 11.

TCU was third before its 55-3 win over last-place Iowa State on Saturday. Baylor was sixth before a 38-27 win over Kansas State.

The top four were Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State, which won the Big Ten championship game 59-0.
