KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police spent the early morning hours Tuesday on a dark, remote street in Kansas City, Kan., gathering evidence from a home where a man was found dead.

Police responded to the neighborhood at 44th Terrace and Farrow at about 1:30 a.m.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots.

A man was apparently outside when someone may have driven by and opened fire on the house in a drive-by shooting.

Neighbors described the victim as a man in his 60s.

"Initial investigation leads us to believe that at some point he had stepped outside and we believe somebody was driving by when they shot rounds at the house, striking the victims," said Thomas Tomasic, Kansas City, Kan. Police spokesman.
