Police investigate body of woman in Independence parking lot

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Police were called to a parking lot in Independence, after someone thought they saw a person lying dead on the ground there Tuesday morning.

When police arrived, they confirmed a body was found in the parking lot near 35th Street and Noland Road.

According to Tom Gentry, Independence Police Dept. public information officer, the body was discovered at about 7:30 Tuesday morning. The deceased is an older black female, and there were no signs of obvious foul play. The coroner is performing an autopsy to discover the exact cause of death
