RAYMORE, Mo. -- A local real estate agent with a passion to help others got quite a surprise when she received a donation to help pay for increasing expenses at her miniature equine therapy initiative.

The miniature horses are a part of the “Legacy of Hope Initiative” in Raymore, Mo.

The nine horses spend time visiting with the elderly and children, but the expenses for food and vet care associated with this project have added up for the organization.

“I wanted to help them in order to help with their therapy,” volunteer Chris Fox said. “It's helped a lot of people progress where sometimes we can't help them out.”

Recipient Kate Basehor was shocked when she saw Fox 4 and Chris on scene.

She said the organization has been trying to get some financial support from the community and the $300 donation will be beneficial.
