LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. -- One of two men suspected of kidnapping, assaulting and robbing a 67-year-old Kansas City man was caught by authorities in Kentucky on Tuesday. The FBI confirmed that a man believed to be a suspect was taken into custody days after the bureau issued a bulletin seeking the suspects' whereabouts.

The FBI says that Robert Caldwell was arrested at about 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon. A news release states that he was caught after a car and foot chase where authorities from Kentucky State Police, Lincoln County Sheriff's Department  and Stanford Police Department were in pursuit. He allegedly abandoned a car in a neighboring county and carjacked another a short distance away before he was caught.

Later on Tuesday night, Kentucky State Police said that Caldwell was charged in the state with first-degree fleeing and evading police,  first-degree criminal mischief, kidnapping, robbery and auto theft by unlawful taking.

The Kentucky state charge for kidnapping was filed because Caldwell is accused of forcing a 13-year-old boy into a Jeep with him at gunpoint. The teen was released unharmed before Caldwell was captured. Caldwell may also face federal charges in addition to the state charges.

The local victim was taken from his driveway in south Kansas City and able to escape about 250 miles away in Jennings, Mo. He told officers there that two suspects carjacked him at about 5:30 in the morning last Thursday, assaulted him and drove him around to different ATMs, forcing him withdraw money.

The victim escaped when the suspects stopped for gas in the St. Louis area, but they took off with his van. That van was later found in Bardstown, Ky., after an accident. The FBI said one of the suspects believed to be Caldwell fled the scene and stole a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse, remaining on the run until Tuesday.

A source told FOX 4 that Caldwell and the other suspect were tracked by purchases made with the victim's cash card. Surveillance images of the pair were released last week by the FBI.

The second suspect remains at-large, described as a black man between 25 and 26 years old. He has a dark complexion and is between 5'10" and 6 feet tall with a stocky build.
