Preliminary hearing held for suspect of double homicide in Lenexa

OLATHE, Kan. -- A preliminary hearing was held Monday afternoon at the Johnson County Courthouse for the man accused of the double homicide of a stepfather and stepson.

Alex Brune, 27, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection to the double homicide that happened July 9, 2014.

According to police, Brune called 911 and said he had been shot in the stomach.

Police said Brune did not know where he was so officials pinged his cellphone. Officers discovered he was in the 8500 block of Hallet Street in Lenexa, Kan.

When policed arrived on scene, they found Brune on the front porch. Brune also told police there were two men dead inside.

Cliff Preston, 79, was found dead in Lenexa on Wednesday, July 9.Police said they found Brian Baskind, 47, and Clifford Preston, 79, dead in the back bedroom of the basement. Both men were stabbed multiple times according to police. Police said there was a large knife and hand gun near the bodies, which they think belonged to Preston.
