KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police shot a man in the Northland Wednesday morning following a domestic disturbance involving his family.
The man's wife called police just before 4 a.m. She told police that her husband was outside firing off his rifle. Police said the woman then called back shortly after and claimed her husband shot her in the leg. She also said he was fighting with their kids, according to police.
When police arrived at the scene near NW 79th and N Congress, the husband had the wife on the ground outside with his rifle pointed at her. Police said they told the man to put down the rifle, but he refused to put down the gun.
Police fired two shots at the man hitting him in the arm.
No other injuries have been reported according to police.
The husband and wife were both taken to two different area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
