Man shot in leg while sleeping in Northland motel

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --  A man is recovering after he was shot in the leg while sleeping in a motel room early Tuesday morning.

Kansas City police said gunfire erupted outside the Microtel Inn and Suites off I -29 and Cookingham Drive around 4:30 a.m.

According to police, at least two bullets went into the building. One of the bullets went through a first story hotel windowimage1 and hit a man who was sleeping. The other bullet hit a post outside.

At least two pick up truck windows were shattered outside of the hotel according to police. Police said they are still investigating whether the windows were shot out.

Police are still looking for the suspects in the shooting.
