KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The winning numbers in Wednesday evening's drawing of the "Powerball" game were: 25-11-54-13-39, Powerball: 19, Power Play: 3

As of Wednesday afternoon the Powerball jackpot was worth nearly $500 million.  This is the third largest Powerball jackpot ever.

While the odds are stacked against you, it's still fun to dream about how winning would change your life.

"Why not?" Patricia Alford, Powerball player said.  "Who knows.  It might be my day. ... I’m going to live so good, so good, trust me, I’m going to be one happy camper."

The last time the Powerball reached such a large jackpot was February of last year when it reached $425 million.

According to the Powerball website, the winner could take home $337.8 million in one lump sum. Not bad, but first you have to win...which is pretty daunting.

A ticket costs two dollars, and the odds of winning are 1 in 175 million, which means you are more likely to get attacked by shark, 1 in 12 million, get crushed by an asteroid,1 in 700,000, or die by lightning strike, 1 in 136,000.

But as those who play the lottery always say, you can't win unless you buy a ticket.

"I’m not a big fan of the lottery, to be honest, I’m not a big fan of gambling, it is really, if you look at the statistics, a poor tax, but someone like me has an extra two bucks, I’m just playing around," Nathan Armstrong, Powerball player said.
