KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fifteen thousand dollars is how much the reward now is for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a 2010 Valentine's Day murder. John Valdivia's mother says she wants answers in her son's shooting death, for her own peace of mind, but more importantly, for the benefit of his son who never got to know his father.

It was a cold, wet Valentine's Day, the perfect night to stay in and eat some heart-shaped pizzas for Valdivia, his fiance, and his new-born son.

Twenty-six-year-old Valdivia was outside his Kansas City, Kan. home on Valentine's Day, 2010. His mother says it was a happy time in his life. He was thrilled to be a new father.

He was gunned down that night, and his killer's never been caught.

"It is hard knowing that you know, that it's unsolved, if we had an answer we would feel more comfortable," mom Guadalupe Rennau said.

For five years, Rennau has held fundraisers to try to get more reward money, hoping to entice someone to speak up in her son's case.

"For me it's to give an answer to his child," said Rennau.

Her son's photo has appeared on billboards throughout the metro, and on Saturday night, another effort to keep John's memory alive. It's a fundraiser to raise money for the reward in her son's murder.

"We don't want anyone to forget that you know this is still unsolved," said Rennau.

If you have any information about John Valdivia's murder, you're asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.

The reward is now at $15,000, and you can stay anonymous.
