Police investigate fatal KCMO accident

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating a deadly accident that shut down power lines early Thursday morning.

Police said they received reports of the accident around 2:45 a.m.

According to police this was a single car accident. The vehicle flipped around the turn on Oldham Road south of Swope Park. Police said the passenger was trapped after a power pole fell on top of the vehicle.

Power lines in the area were still down Thursday morning around 6 a.m. and the road remained closed. Police said they expect the road to remain closed until at least 8 a.m.

Police have not yet released the victim's name.
