KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police began pursuing a stolen vehicle Friday morning that was carjacked from the 400 block of S. 137th Street in Bonner Springs, Kan.  The pursuit, first initiated by Edwardsville Police, continued into Kansas City, Kan., and then to downtown Kansas City, Mo., near 11th and Baltimore, and then went back into Kansas City, Kan.

According to reports, shots were fired in Kansas City, Kan., near 1154 Ruby Ave. and the suspect was reportedly killed.

Police said the suspect stole a white pickup truck in Bonner Springs around 9 a.m. When officers tried to stop the suspect, he kept driving.

After a chase, the suspect got out of the truck and was waving a gun, according to police. Police said that's when they  opened fire.

"It was approximately five, and it was boom, boom, boom, boom, boom," Rocky Rozco, who is a neighbor said.  "It was louder than fireworks. Louder than an M-80s going off. It was just so loud that it made me come outside."

Kansas City, Kan., police are handling the case.

Police have not yet released the identity of the suspect but said no one other than the suspect was injured during the shooting.
