Highway patrol confirms identity of Shawnee man who died during early morning accident

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. — One person is dead following an early morning accident Friday.

Matthew S. Doan, 33, of Shawnee was driving a pickup truck when he struck a guard rail, traveled off the roadway before going airborne and slamming into a ditch.

The accident happened on the northbound Interstate 35 ramp to 635 around 4 a.m. according to Kansas fire department officials.

According to first responders, Doan was wearing his seat belt.

Kansas highway patrol is also investigating this accident.
