KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Are you feeling low because you’re single on the national day of love? Well you don’t have to, especially because there’s a new twist on the traditional Valentine’s Day.

Women across the metro are celebrating GALentine's Day; time with the ladies, a girls’ night out. The focus is celebrating friendships with your girlfriends, the night before Valentine's Day.

Alexandra Sperrazza and her friends learned about the holiday twist from a TV show. They met for a low-key girls' night in, shared sweets, and traded Valentine's Day cards. Sperrazza even created her own digital templates. Check out her blog by clicking on this link.

Fox 4 also stopped by Standard Style in Leawood. Joni Johnson wishes Galentine's Day existed when she was in her twenties. She says the day is about love and celebrating and honoring the friends in your life, no matter your relationship status or what season you're in. Johnson says the store offers gifts you can give your girlfriends, like candles, nail polish and jewelry.
