KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- As the metro gets ready for another round of cold weather, local caregivers are preparing to take case of senior citizens.

Visiting Angels is handing out senior storm kits. The kits are geared towards senior citizens because they can't feel the cold weather like younger people.

More than half of all hypothermia related deaths happen in people over 65.

Visiting Angels helps thousands of senior citizens across the country with things such as shoveling snow, blanket checks, and thermostat settings.

Jane Teeman of the Visiting Angels said that those who work with the project meet with senior citizens to help personalize their storm kit. According to Teeman, through personalization, they are able to make the kit better fit the needs of the individual.
