LEAWOOD, Kan. -- New businesses could soon be moving into the old Leawood Hy-vee at 122nd and State Line Road.

The store shut down last June amid protests from residents who didn’t want to see the shopping center go downhill.

On Sunday, the grocery chain sent some of those residents an email announcing the property is now under contract with a development company. The company plans to bring in a nationally-recognized health club and retailer.

Hy-vee said it plans to talk with the city soon about the redevelopment plans.
