OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A new report said 117 million Americans are sick because of what they’re eating.

A federal committee released a massive 600 page report. The report will be used to set 2015 dietary guidelines for Americans.

The report urges Americans to eat plant-based diets and proposed taxing sweets.

The report claimed a change in diet can help prevent chronic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, Type 2 diabetes and some forms of cancer.

The report is asking lawmakers to get involved.
