BETHESDA, Md. — A mismarked teacup labeled with “hot mess” is being recalled for a rather ironic reason: it is being called a potential fire hazard.

On Wednesday, The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of certain teacups, which were mismarked as being microwave safe, from the popular retail store Urban Outfitters.

The “Cheeky” style teacups’ gold paint accents will begin to spark if placed in the microwave. However the cups have all been printed as “microwave safe.”

Urban Outfitters has promised a $16 refund to anyone who has purchased this cup and wishes to return it. According to website 11,640 units have been recalled in the United States and 1,730 in Canada.
