OLATHE, Kan. -- Crews worked diligently to restore power to an area of Olathe, Kan. after an accident early Thursday morning.

A driver lost control of their car as they were driving through the intersection at 151st and Black Bob and through a telephone pole then hit a signal box.

KCPL crews were trying to fix the signal box. Crews had a tent over the signal box to keep things dry while they made repairs.

Once the signal box is repaired, crews said they will be able to repair the telephone pole that was snapped in half.

Police identified the driver as a 44-year-old male. Police said the driver suffered minor injuries and was arrested.

Police said the driver is being investigated as to weather he was impaired while driving.

The accident left the intersection without power. Police were on scene to direct traffic.

The accident left at least 800 people without power, but most of it has since been restored.
