KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police announced Thursday that Deputy Scott Wood was released from the hospital after being treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
The family of Deputy Wood said he is healing and are requesting privacy.
"We are delighted and encouraged by the great medical progress Scott has made," Sheriff Donald Ash said. "I'm also encouraged and grateful for all of the expressions of support and good thoughts and prayers for Scott, his family, and the Sheriff's Office."
Deputy Wood was shot at least seven times during a robbery at a KCK 7-Eleven March 4.
"Deputy Wood has made great progress from the trauma of the shooting," Michael Moncure, MD, Medical Director of Trauma said. "Now it is time for rest, rehabilitation, therapy and time to take him the rest of the way. He and his family (and his extended family in law enforcement) still have work ahead for them."
Police said there is still an ongoing criminal investigation in progress.
