OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- An Overland Park girl was diagnosed with a rare pediatric eye cancer a month before her third birthday last September.
While Callyn Stanley was going through treatment, doctors submitted her for Make-A-Wish, and Thursday was the reveal party for that wish.
"A princess theme kept coming up over and over with a three-year-old and a seven-year-old," said Callyn's dad, Mike.
The KC Young Professionals Chapter of the Make A Wish foundation made Callyn's wish come true.
"Sometimes, you can imagine, they want pizza or candy right off," said Court Kennedy, the VP of Constituents for KC Young Professionals Chapter of the Make A Wish foundation.
Kennedy found out Callyn wanted to go to Disney World with her family, and to reveal that wish, the group decided to turn the Stanley's garage into a 'Frozen' castle.
"One of the things she mentioned in her interviews is how she also really liked the throne that Elsa had in the movie 'Frozen,'" Kennedy added.
'It`s kind of an emotional roller coaster," said Callyn's mom, Kim, who says it's a blessing to see her daughter so happy after a tough few months.
"She hasn't been able to just be a kid," added Kim.
Friends, family, and supporters came to the reveal party that included an ice throne, with Princess Elsa making an appearance.
"Why was it so cold!? " Callyn asked about the throne.
There was also a balloon arch, decorations, and much more.
"She`s been very resilient, and they say it`s harder on the parents than it is on the kid," said Callyn's dad.
Mike said there have been trips to the doctor when they had to leave Callyn's seven-year-old sister, Taylor, behind. He says this upcoming trip to Disney World, with no pending appointments, is truly the best wish to ever get granted.
"We`ve missed basketball games, I missed the daddy-daughter dance with her which was tough, so this will be good to have a trip for the entire family for all of us to be together," Mike said.
The Stanleys say they are looking forward to their trip to Disney World, and can't thank the Make A Wish foundation enough.
Callyn is currently in remission, and the Make A Wish foundation says by granting these wishes, it gives kids like Callyn something positive to focus on.
