KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One man is dead and another one was pulled from the water of Indian Creek early Friday evening. Firefighters were called to the scene around 6 p.m. when they found the men, who are between the ages of 25 and 30.

Firefighters say the two were fishing when somehow one ended up in the water. Firefighters say the other man tried to help him out but was unsuccessful.

The water is about three or four feet deep and investigators are working to determine exactly how the man died.

“I don't know if there was alcohol involved. Again police are interviewing the individual that was able to make it out. So they'll be able to get a hold on it and piece together what happened,” Battalion Chief James Garrett with KCFD said.

Firefighters say there were no other witnesses besides the man who was with the victim. Police took him in for further questioning.
