Police investigate attempted KCMO kidnapping

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police were looking for a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a KCMO teen early Friday morning.

The victim's father said a masked man armed with a knife entered their home around 2 a.m. and tried to kidnap his 16-year-old daughter.

The suspect allegedly got the victim out of her bedroom window near 59th and Norfleet.

The father said he immediately called police to report the incident.

Police describe the suspect as 6' male wearing a dark-colored hoodie, jeans and a ski mask.

Independence police said they did pick up someone shortly after the incident who matched the physical description, but they didn't believe he was the suspect.
