SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Missouri State University is urging students to participate in a “lock your door” campaign after a naked man has frightened several female residents of Hammons Hall.

Police have received eight reports of incidents between Feb. 4 and March 18.  A man, described as between 5’5″ and 5’10”, wearing nothing, except something covering his face, exposed himself in hallways, study rooms and dorm rooms. All the incidents happened between midnight and 4 a.m.

In some of the reports, the man touched the female students or stood over them, taking off their blankets or beginning to take off their clothing before the women scream and he ran away.

Hammons Hall is a coed dormitory with alternating floors for male and female students.  The university has posted signs in the hallways on women’s floors that say: “Be Aware: There have been multiple incidents of an unclothed man entering rooms that are unlocked. Lock your doors.”

Missouri State University is offering a $500 reward. Contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 with information.
