PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Four people were attacked and injured by bees in central Florida on Sunday after trying to take some honey from the bee’s hive.
According to WTSP, the victims—described as three men and one women—received up to 50 stings each from the domesticated honey bees in New Port Richey shortly before noon on Sunday. The three men were hospitalized in unknown condition, while the female victim was not as seriously injured in the attack.
Authorities say that firefighters used a hose to disperse the bees. There were an estimated 20-30,000 bees in the hive.
Because of the enormous size of the hive, residents in the surrounding area were warned about the risk of bee stings following the incident, WTSP reports.
