KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A group of local churchgoers have band together to support their pastor during a challenging time.

Pastor Gus Franklin's refrigerator was not working properly and was causing quite an inconvenience, when a parishioner reached out to FOX 4.

Daryl Ivey said that Franklin has been helping others for almost 86 years and now needs to be helped.

Franklin is the pastor of the Love Fellowship Church in Kansas City, Mo. He is also the husband to  Barbara for 35 years.

Franklin and his wife have been forced to eat fast food and meals cooked by the congregation since their refrigerator quit working a few months ago.

Ivey was able to help FOX 4 surprise Franklin with a gift of $300 to help fund a new refrigerator and eliminate the need of fast food.
